PLANT PROTECTION CALENDAR. RECOMMENDATIONS FOR JULY AND AUGUST
As in the last month it is necessary to monitor the first occurrences of plant louse and caterpillars. Special attention should be paid to spread of fungus in potatoes, tomatoes , cucumbers, onions, stone fruit, vine and other sensitive plants. It is suitable during the treatment to apply fertilizers on leafs so that possible fluctuations in the uptake of nutrients
by roots are corrected. Page
The occurence of weeds in oil-seed rape
Survey on occurrence and spread of weeds in oil-seed rape seed in the Czech republic was carried out in 1979, 1985, 1994 and the last one in 2001. The outcome of all those surveys showed surprisingly that the most widely spread weed in all the growths were Matricaria maritima and chamomile. Page
The problems with spread of weeds on meadows and pastures
The occurrence of weeds on meadows and pastures is still quite high. It is necessary to realize that neglecting the care for growths on meadows for one or two years can bring about an increase in costs for removal of weeds from the growth. Failing to prevent weeds from blossoming and seeding on the ground, will make it possible for a large amount of seeds to infest the up most layer of soil. Page
Application of herbicides? Requirements, advantages and disadvantages
The strategy for protection against weeds is usually modified according to many factors of which the most important one is the biological relation between the herbicide and the weeds or between the crop and the herbicide. As for herbicides acting via the soil the relation between the herbicide and the soil plays an important part. Page
Invasive weeds (7): Consolida orientalis
Consolida orientalis is occurring more and more frequently in winter cereals and cole seed, primarily in the west Bohemia and southern Moravia. It is an attractive plant in terms of appearance which captures the attention not only of the grower it is almost impossible to overlook due to the color of its flowers and its height.
Wood rotting fungus the causal agents of decay of forest and ornamental woods.
Decay attacking trunks
Wood rotting fungus that cause decay of trunks and branches of forest and ornamental woods are characterized by infecting the part of tree that is above the ground while a big and important part is played by the specific environmental group of parasites of wounds that cause decay in trunks and branches of both ornamental and forest woods. Caustic lime tends to reduce the damage caused by slugs to oil-seed rape
It is not necessary to repeat all the time that calcium has a positive effect both in terms of nutrition value and in terms of pedology where Ca has a positive effect on the soil structure and adjusts pH. In a substantial part of the Czech republic, particularly after 1989, a decrease in pH was recorded. Lower pH (more acidic soil) is suitable for developing majority of fungal diseases as well as slugs. Page
Sugar beet requires enough potassium and magnesium
One of the first requirements for growing sugar beet successfully is thorough care for soil fertility which includes not only adding nutrients in the form of fertilizers, but also organic matter. Treating soil carefully is also an important factor so that it maintains good structure and it is not too compressed. Page
News in the composition in terms of species of winter wheat and winter barley
After harvest 7 new species of winter wheat and one species of winter barley were newly registered. A list of economicaly significant properties is shown below in the form of verbal description that is complemented with a summarizing table. Page
The results of experiments in oil-seed rape from Field days BASF 2002
We present here part of the results from the last year of demonstrational experiments BASF, where many of you could see growths of oil-seed rape with various dates of application of fungicide Caramba. Practical experience from this winter showed the advantages of this preparative, when the growths on which Caramba was applied survived the „severe“ and long winter more easily.
Triflurex 48 EC - cheap herbicide suitable for basic treatment of oil-seed rape
This year was not too friendly to winter cole seed growers. Many companies invested a lot of money into setting up its own growth, into herbicides and often into fungicidal treatment in the autumn, but the desired result was not often achieved on the contrary it was necessary to plough under a substantial part of oil-seed rape. Page
Tough attitude toward the weeds, gentle attitude toward oil-seed rape = success in growing oil-seed rape
Seeding oil-seed rape in the autumn 2002 again exceeded 300 000 hectares, the following ploughunders in the spring 2003 were on the scale of 90 000 ha. This is a harsh reality of this year from the viewpoint of growing oil-seed rape that makes every agriculturist to think what could be done differently. Page
Packet Teridox Laser, two times more preferable than the last year
After the last year success Syngenta company prepared for you a more preferable joint offer of seed for sowing of cole seed and a herbicide for its treatment. You will find in the packet 10 seed units of seed for sowing of cole seed of high quality species called Laser. Only seed
that is impregnated with a unique dressing Cruiser OSR is delivered. In addition a successfull tried herbicide Teridox 500 EC is offered in the amount of 100 litters. Page
Starting a growth, sowing, seed for sowing and protection of oil-seed rape
It is necessary to maintain a high percentage of oil-seed rape on the arable soil. High rate of sales will be guaranteed in the EU and , furthermore, this will help to solve the problem of the compulsory 8 percent of fallow land where it is possible to grow plants which are not used in food industry. High percentage of oil-seed rape enables to maintain fertility of soil and get it rid of many diseases after the restriction of live stock production. Page
WHY HAS TRITIKALE SPREAD SO MUCH?
After more than one hundred years since the first crossbreed of wheat and rye was obtained this new species has become a significant cereal that takes up a large and constantly growing sowed area . In the Czech republic tritikale, has become the third most widespread species , after wheat and barley. Sowed areas are also spreading rapidly in the world. Page
