Meteorologists: rainstorms threaten

Workers of the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ) warned that till the Sunday morning rainstorms, hailstorm and subsequent local floods threaten at the CR area. ‘Afternoon storms are expected sporadically, especially in Bohemia, in which hailstorms and rainstorms about 30 millimeters can appear’, said a worker of the ČHMÚ. According to her, at the place of rainstorm local floods of roads and cellars can happen.

We support Commission’s proposal, not British one

The European Union has not agreed about a height of budget for years 2007 – 2013 yet, but already today it is obvious that a way of providing agrarian dotations, to which Brussels expounds the most money, will change significantly. ‘Approved changes are a successful result for the Czech Republic’, claims Miroslav Toman, a state secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, who is in charge of the negotiation with Brussels.

Production and consumption costingness is according to Ministry still high

Energy and material costingness of production in the Czech Republic is still unbearable high as well as an operation of products themselves and their final liquidation. It is stated in a material of the Ministry of Environment CR devoted to consumption. It shows for example that before a new automobile of one ton weight starts driving from a production line, there have already been 25 tons of waste arisen in its production and mining of raw materials. Nevertheless, a number of automobiles in the CR has grown from 2,4 million to 3,8 million since 1990. For a production of one computer 240 kilograms of fossil fuel is necessary, 22 kinds of various chemicals and about 1500 litres of water, is is reported in a document published on the Ministry’s web.

Celebrations of the International Danube’s Day are being prepared

On Wednesday, June 29, the second longest river of Europe [1] will celebrate its anniversary for the second time. The spokeswoman of the Ministry of Environment CR (MŽP), Karolína Šůlová, informed about it. According to her data, Danube’s Day was proclaimed in the last year by the International Commission for Danube Protection [2]. It happened on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of signing of the Agreement on Protection and Bearable Use of Danube, whose contractor is also the CR. The main aim of the Agreement is an international cooperation in water quality improvement in the river but also in a protection of environment in its entire river-basin.
