Chief magistrate of High Tatras Mokoš: Nobody wants to devastate Tatras
Development of tourism in High Tatra mountains have to continue despite of the last year’s November windstorm and recent fire, which affected Tatra’s forests, says the chief magistrate of High Tatras Ján Mokoš. According to him much work was successfully done in nine months from windstorm in Tatras in reneval of damaged area, nevertheless, arguments of conservationists and entrepreneurs in the area of tourism can harm the renewal process. “Nobody – conservationists, entrepreneurs, nor local inhabitants – wants to devastate High Tatra. However, it is necessary to find out a common way in planning of this area future, which beside a function of conservation should fulfill also a treatment and recreational functions”, said Mokoš today at an action called Tatra meeting organized by the town High Tatras and the State forest of Tatra national park in Tatranská Lomnice.

It is an evidence of increasing temperature in the Earth”, says Steve Sawyer, the chief of climate policy of Greenpeace.
KRNAP will get money for promotion from the EU
The administration of Krkonoše national park (KRNAP) will get 1,3 million crowns from EU funds for a campaign promoting Krkonoše. A project partner is the Polish Krkonoše national park which will share in a preparation and translations. A year-long promotion campaign includes publication of leaflets, informative booklets, tourist guides, CD and DVD presentations and a multimedia CD-ROM. It should draw the attention to tourist matters of interest in Czech and Polish sides and attract tourists in the highest Czech mountains.
This year’s harvest of cereals in Poland will reach 26, 728 million tons
A representative of the Polish cereal chamber Bogdan Judzinski informed the public that this year’s harvest of cereals including corn will reach 26, 728 mil. tons which is less then last year’s record result 29,6 mil.t. He said that a domestic consumption for food purposes, feed and seed in the season 2005/06 will be about 27,5 mil. tons, so that with drawing reserves from last years a balance of supply and demand would be leveled. Production of rape seed 1,213 mil. t. will be also less in comparison with a record 1,6 mil. t. in 2004. The reason is lower hectare yields and further a bit later sowing comparing last season and occasional frosts in the spring.
