Ambrozek: Natural renewal of forest is better than desert clear-cut areas

The Minister of Environment Libor Ambrozek judges that a naturally renewing forest is better for further development of landscape than desert clear-cut areas originated in cutting trees due to wood-engraver. It is proved by experience from Bavarian side of Šumava and other Europeans countries, he reported. He responded to the President Václav Klaus's opinion that leaving forests without human interference is an experiment with unwarranted results. According to Klaus Šumava forests came into being with assistance and under the protection of people and it is not possible to give free range to nature suddenly.

Foreign beers on Czech market

Foreign owners of breweries Staropramen, Krušovice, Starobrno and Plzenský Prazdroj promote their most marketed foreign beers on Czech market. All breweries consider more expensive imported marks as enrichment of assortment. Imported beers, which don't increase sales, participate significantly in a consumption of beer in the CR in roughly two percents. In selected bars and restaurant Prazdroj tests premium beer Miller Genuine Draft (MGD), the first American beer on Czech market. “MGD is an exceptional beverage for a group with higher incomes which go in prestigious bars”, said a spokesman of Prazdroj Alexej Bechtin.

Does carrot have a future?

A situation on carrot market in the Netherlands is not just pink. A high production with low prices invokes a question how the situation will develop further. A main problem is a quality. Cooperation among growers is bad, while strong organizations stay on consumers' side. In 1999 growing areas of carrot in the Netherlands were the largest and reached almost 6000 ha. In 2000 they decreased to 4800 ha and in next years they settled on about 5000 ha. In 2003 the production was 400 000 tons from which 70 % was determined for export.

Are plants for bio-gas production competition for milk-production enterprises?

Plants for bio-gas production can purposefully increase in value surpluses from meadows and pastures, however, they can be also a cause of strained situation with feed. Production of energy and raw materials from renewable kinds of agricultural bio-mass is positive in principle and will have still bigger significance in the future. Plants for bio-gas production, which arise in a large number in Austria, are also fulfilled with bio-mass from meadows and pastures. In this way in some regions a competitive environment is created towards developing enterprises for milk production. A big nutrients concentration in plants for bio-gas also hides a hazard of over-fertilizing and excessive nutrients balance.
