Farmers are frightened with sanctions for higher milk production

Farmers in Klatovy region are afraid of fines for exceeding of milk production quotas that could reduce considerably their breedings. Some of them will exceed milk limits and will have to pay high sanctions to the EU. It is written in today's Klatovy daily. Meanwhile nobody can say how much they will have to pay for a liter of milk in addition. The last information talks about nine crowns. “We know that we will exceed the quotas but it is unreal for us to pay such a high price. With this approach we can give up the production right away”, said a chairman of the Agricultural coop Úhlava in Dolany Josef Balín. He has spoken to officers and politicians. “However, nobody knows anything certain nor advice to us”, he added.

The Czech Republic prepares for EU management, preparation delays

In three years a Czech Minister of Agriculture will have managed agriculture of the whole European Union including sea fishing. His colleagues will have been in the same situation. The Minister of Foreign Affairs Cyril Svoboda (KDU-ČSL) suggested the government a way of possible preparation yesterday. Before the negotiations ministers mostly did not agree with his conception which counts also with a new minister for the Union. Till the deadline of news HN the government resolution was not known. “The material is superficial and doesn't go deep”, the Minister of transport Milan Šimonovský claimed. The Minister for Local Development Radko Martínek (ČSSD) even urged so that the material was returned for revision.

Japan suspects other cases of mad cows disease

Japan entertains suspicion of other cases of mad cows disease (BSE). On a farm in the prefectship Hokkaidó, where the 22nd case of the disease was confirmed at the end of January, other 45 cows are suspicious. Representatives of the prefectship reported it today and added that supply of Japanese market with beef meat is not jeopardized. Offices on the island Hokkaidó ordered that none of 432 cows, which the farm breeds, has not to leave the enterprise. The suspicious pieces will be slaughtered and burned. It id dealt with 43 adult cows and two calves after a cow which died in January.

South-Moravian wine growers agreed on higher dotations with minister

South-Moravian wine growers came to an agreement with the Minister of Jan Mládek on a way of state aid to get out from a burdensome economic situation. Growers and producers will obtain higher contributions for the integrated production; also subsidies for insurance premium will grow, said a chairman of the Agrarian Chamber in Břeclav Jan Hajda today. According to him also a decision will be made on remission of loans to wine growers. The Minister, according to Hajda, promised to wine growers for example an increase of contribution for the integrated production from 7300 to 14 600 crowns.
