Ministry started program LEADER CR for 2006

The Minister of Agriculture Jan Mládek signed today the Rules for providing support in frame of the Program LEADER CR for 2006. A press spokesman of the Ministry of Agriculture CR (MZe) Tomáš Loskot informed about it.

Step to budget

A higher flexibility of future budgets with the aim to respond better to the quickly changing world; the determination of basic rules for a new European fund for adaptation to globalization; general review of European Union budget for period 2008-2009 - that are the main elements of a proposal of inter-institutional agreement which the European Commission has introduced.

Bird flu already in Africa

The killing strain of bird flu H5N1 has penetrated for the first time also in Africa. The infection has been found out in the north of the most populous country of the continent, Nigeria, on a poultry farm in Kaduna region where about 46 thousand pieces of poultry are kept free.

Consumption tax pushes production of Slovak beer down

Decrease in beer production continued last year in Slovakia. Local breweries produced 3,96 million hectoliters while in 2004 it was 4,22 million hectoliters of beer. Annual fall is 6 %. The reason in a high consumption tax, producers agree.
