Growing of GMO corn has to be announced till April 15
Conformable with the public notice No. 89/2006 Col., on specified conditions of genetically modified varieties growing, the growers of GM corn are obliged to inform in written form abou t this fact the local-relevant agricultural agency. A spokesman of the Ministry of Agriculture CR (MZe), Tomáš Loskot, informed about it today and added that the deadline for sending information is this year’s April 15.
Czech Republic has the seventh case of bird flu
The seventh case of bird flu has been found out in the Czech Republic. Tests confirmed the infection of virus H5 in a swan found out in Týn nad Vltavou near an old bridge at the weekend. It was announced by the spokesman of the Veterinary Administration, Josef Duben. A zone with a radius ten kilometers will be delimited around the point of finding where extraordinary measures will come into force. All present cases have been found out in the South Bohemia. The EU referential laboratory in the Britain has confirmed infection of virus H5N1 in the first infected swan discovered the Monday before last near Hluboká nad Vltavou.
National Parks are in threat of efflux of visitors
Tourists from rich countries want to see authentic wilderness. In Czech national parks they often have to listen to a noise of power saws and jump aside in front of trucks with wood. Czech areas are not entitled to be a member of a prestigious club of national parks. Czech national parks are ill. At least their substantial part. Despite the fact that these areas first of all should protect the most valuable parts of Czech nature, their main mission has to often go aside, if it gets in a conflict with interests of timbermen, huntsmen or operators of ski premises.
Farmers from Haná: Damages caused by flood will cost many millions crowns
Damages which were caused to farmers from the region central Moravia by the present floods, will cost many million crowns. It results from estimation of management of Olomouc Agrarian Chamber (AK). The flooded rivers deprived entrepreneurs from Lotovel, Olomouc and Kojetín of other millions crowns. “The floods caused to farmers two problems. At first, the water from rivers damaged perennial crops which in many places it washed out from the ground. The second problem is that in flooded areas it will not be possible at least for two weeks to start spring works” , sad Drahomír Tobiáš, a chairman of Olomouc AK to the ČTK today.
