Suchdolský Jeník will be drank in school

Meanwhile it is known by only a small number of students; in some months it will possibly become the best selling beverage on premises of a university. After one hundred and fourty years, beer production returns to Suchdol. The lager’s name is Jeník and obviously will be a real unique. The department of technological equipment of buildings in the Czech Agricultural University opened an experimental school mini-brewery in April on day of saint George and cooked the first brew of beer – light lager. Suchdolský Jeník is only two month old and than it got ripen, it will lie through summer holiday in local mini-laboratory. “A good lager should ripe as much as six weeks”, a head of department, Miroslav Přikryl, reveals. Our rector’s name is Jan, so we named the beer Suchdolský Jeník. Of course, we have already tasted it and I have to say that it is not bad beer”, the head of department praises students.

EU agreed on fishing fund

Ministries of Agriculture and Fishing succeeded to came to an agreement on new system of Union aid for fishermen today in Luxembourg. From a new fishing fund which dispose with a sum 3,8 milliard Euro for years 2007 – 2013 also Czech ponds should get their share. A mission of the fund is above all to contribute to modernization and restructuring of European fishing which faces a fall in consequence of thinning fish resources. A contention between two groups of countries from south and north of partnership, so called friends of fishing and friend of fish, twice blocked the agreement on rules of use of the fund.

Marking of origin – objection of common market

Commission does not agree with indication of country of origin on tomato purée from Italy. On the contrary, it enforces writing of warning for pregnant women on alcoholic beverages. The European Commission (EK) expressed negatively towards a notification of Italian public notice according to which it can be written on tomato purée that the origin is Italy (if it correspond with reality). According to representatives from Italy this data should satisfy requirements of consumers who are interested in a country of origin. According to the Commission such a national initiative is unsuitable intervention in communitary right. The affair will have to be resolved at the EU level.

European Commission suggests measures in aquaculture for better protection of biological diversity

The European Commission suggested measures for regulation of introduction of foreign kinds in aquacultures and operation against possible negative influences on environment. Foreign kinds, as rainbow trout and oyster pacific, contributed significantly in a fast growth of aquaculture in Europe. However, in many cases foreign kinds can have unfavourable impacts on ecosystem and can cause considerable losses in biological diversity. Therefore introduction of such kinds should be regulated by means permissions. A Commission’s proposal which the mentioned discussed in details, will improve not only protection of ecosystem but also it will serve better to further development of aquaculture. “Aquaculture achieves still higher significance in European fishing”.
