Gingerbread from Pardubice will obtain protection of origin

Pardubice gingerbread has a great chance to achieve a geographical trade mark of the European Union - a protected marking of origin. The trademark, among others, will help to prevent other firm from other towns and states from production of imitations under the marking Pardubice gingerbread. The European Commission is about to decide on the trademark for a local confectionary specialty in October. “Since the 8th of May a half-year period has run when objections against the registration can be applied. As far as I know, no objections are expected”, the Euro-representative Jan Březina conveyed yesterday.

Václav Klaus received representative of Agrarian Chamber

Representatives of the Agrarian Chamber (ACH CR) have negotiated on four items for about an hour during today's reception by the President of republic Václav Klaus. “The President was informed on prepared actions against some supermarkets; we invited him at National harvest-home in České Budějovice (they take place annually at the exhibition Země živitelka and this year it will be on the 25th of August); at the world congress America - EU to further development in agriculture and countryside (it takes place in Prague from the 15th - 17th of October and for the first time an organizer is a new country which is represented by ACH CR); the fourth item was de-bureaucratization of the national program Development of countryside”, Jan Veleba, the president of Agrarian Chamber CR, reported after the reception at Prague Castle.

Consumption of milk products in CR grows, mainly of cheeses and yoghurts

Milk products after an underflow of consumption in the first half of nineties in the Czech Republic are again popular. Last year their consumption, according to preliminary data in count was 239 kilograms of milk per a person in comparison with 188 kilograms in 1995. In recent years the Czechs eat mainly still more and more cheeses and fermented milk products. However, in total the milk consumption gets behind the level of 1989 when it reached in count 260 kilograms per head yearly. It results from data of the Bohemian-Moravian Dairy Industry Union.

MZe: first invitation appeals in frame of Rural Development Program will be advertised in July

The Minister of Agriculture Petr Gandalovič announced that the first invitation appeals for drawing financial means from the Rural Development Program will be advertised from a half of July.
