Conclusions of conference Use of European Funds to fulfill engagement of the CR in area of waste-water discharge and purification
A priority interest of water-management is so that the Czech Republic would fulfill its engagements towards the European Union in area of waste-water discharge and purification. Especially promise of the European Union to co-finance relevant projects in frame of operational program Environment is a challenge for Czech water management. At a conference taking place on the 6th of September in Prague, Novotného lávka 5, except representatives of water-management companies, there was Ing. Dan Jiránek, a chief magistrate of the statutory town Kladno, who represented the Union of Towns and Municipalities; Mr. Petr Skokan, hetman of Liberec region, on behalf of the Association of Regions; Mrs. Rut Bízková, a deputy-minister of environment and a directress of department of economy and policy of environment, and PhDr. Ivo Hlaváč, the first deputy minister of agriculture for European affairs.
International energy agency: states have to face climatic changes
Continuing economic growth, a growing demand for traveling, living and free time have led in advanced countries since 1990 to 14 % increase of energy consumption and emissions of carbon dioxide. The International Energy Agency (IEA) brought it in its newest report. IEA published a report called “Use of energy in new millennium” yesterday as a contribution to the third meeting of ministers of countries G8 which takes place on 9 - 11th of September in Berlin. The meeting is organized as a part of a discussion on climatic changes which was open in 2005 by a summit of G8 in Scottish Gleneagles.
Borsko is propositioned of vanes
Borsko in the region Tachov is obviously an interesting area for building of wind power stations. Three firms have already shown their interest in several localities. The first of them presented itself two years ago, other introduced its intention a week ago. The third offer was delivered to Petr Kovařík (ČSSD) this week. “Personally I am not against the building and I suppose that other representatives will have a similar opinion. However, nothing is decided, we only enabled a Pilsner firm to present”, the mayor said to Právo. Except for some exceptions neither citizens, who participated in it, refused it”, he added.
Orangutans in Borneo die out. Owing to the European Union
Palm oil from which the European Union produces bio-diesel causes an ecological disaster in the opposite end of world in south-east Asia: it really endangers existence of orangutan in Borneo. Czech branch office of Greenpeace warned of it. In order to ground plantations of oil palms in Borneo, huge territory of original virgin forest, which is a habitat of the ape, has to be cut down. “Production of palm oil exported in the European Union endangers severely orangutan in Borneo. The territory where it can live shrinks rapidly”, Greenpeace warned.
