Second round of reception of applications for subsidies from Rural Development Program

3,635 billion crowns is allotted for the second round for reception of applications for subsidies from the Rural Development Program of the CR for period 2007 - 2013. Today at a press conference the Minister of Agriculture Petr Gandalovič announced a term of reception of applications which will last by the 26th of November. Supported measures include land adjustments, investment in forests, addition of value to agricultural and food products, and renewal and development of villages. There is money also for development of tourism in the countryside, protection of a local cultural heritage and education of farmers. Rues which determine conditions for providing subsidies for projects of the Rural Development Program of the CR for period 2007 - 2013 are available in an electronic form on internet pages of the Ministry of Agriculture www.mze.cz.

Lesy probably knows a tender winner

The most commissions from billion tenders for forest works of the state enterprise Lesy of the Czech Republic could be gained probably by the company LST from Trhanov in Domažlice region. Yesterday it was reported by a director of the firm CE Wood Ivan Doubrava whose company monitored opening the envelopes with offers in tenders. Tenders will determine which firms will work in the state forests in 2008 - 2010. Lesy CR put up 257 tenders in total value 10,6 milliard crowns. Firms submitted in them more than two and half thousand offers. According to Doubrava the company LST appears meantime as a clear winner of tenders with a gain of several percent of commissions. According to him, CE Wood, which is the biggest firm in the branch, should get such an amount of wood in tenders which will enable their operations to stay on the market.

ČSÚ: Harvest of cereals and potatoes will be higher this year

Farmers will harvest this year 7 046 million tons of cereals which is by 10,6 percent more than last year. The Czech Statistic Office it estimates in a release published today. The harvest of potatoes should be 785 000 tons which represents increase by 13,8 percents. In rape statistics expect increase by 18 percents to 1,039 million tons. On the contrary in technical sugar beet they estimate decrease by 17,2 percent to 2,599 million tons. This year's first estimation of harvest of corn for grain about 608 000 tons is in comparison with last year's harvest higher by 0,3 percent. Average yield of cereals is estimated by the CSO to 4,55 tons per hectare which is by 8,3 percents more than in 2006.

Test of supermarkets: they sell rotten vegetable

A manageress of a supermarket Albert in České Budějovice Marie Štěchová got sick. A reporter of MF Dnes had just shown her tomatoes which he had bought in her shop. “It is really disgusting”, she reacted when she saw several rotten tomatoes in a plastic basket. And she offered immediately exchange of goods. It was one of moments of the big test of MF Dnes in supermarkets. It checked up whether they don't sell rotten vegetable and fruit. Rotten tomatoes should not appear on shop counters at all. Sellers are obliged to check fruit and vegetable so often so that half-rotten or mouldy pieces would not occur at all.
