Scientists supporting Klaus's approaches to climate met in Vienna
Scientists from various countries who similarly as the Czech President Václav Klaus share critical positions to prevailing opinions of climatic changes in the world met in Vienna today. Klaus who is on a private visit in Vienna also participated in the symposium and in the evening in Hayek's Institute he repeated his opinions of climatic changes and global warming. While most experts warn against a considerable warming of our planet which is according to them to a great extent caused by irresponsible behaviour of people, Klaus considers the increase of global temperatures in historic comparison as very small and its impacts on our society as insignificant.
Butter is record-expensive
A cake of butter has risen in price in last month almost by third. Prices in some shops have already exceeded forty-crow level. It is because of “a milk fever” in the world which push up prices of the basic raw material for its production from the beginning of the year, a butter shock in neighbouring Germany and coming Christmas. “In last quarter traditionally demand for butter increases and shops start to make provisions in advance”, says a chief of the Bohemian-Moravian Dairy Union Michal Němec. Not only Czech businessmen but also European firms want to purchase reserves, so, there is now tug-of-war for demanded milk on the market.
Billions from privatization will be swallowed by ecological damages
The Czech Republic needs to invest in building of highways or in a retirement reform - however, billions from prepared sale of state firms will go to rectification of old ecological damages. “By the year 2015 we will have needed about hundred billion crowns” the first deputy minister of finances Ivan Fuksa says. By sale of state enterprises Letiště Praha, ČSA, Budvar or parts of České dráhy and Česká pošta the state can gain roughly 150 billion crowns.
