Disease of mad cows again occurred after two years in Slovakia
Almost after two years the disease of mad cows (BSE) again occurred in Slovakia. Infected animal came from the agricultural cooperative in Šuňava near Poprad in the east of the country. Diseased animal was detected by veterinarians in Hungary at the beginning of September where animals had been exported. The disease was confirmed also by other tests. Štefan Kohút from a regional veterinary and food administration imparted it to ČTK. Due to the infection other animals were liquidated on the farm. “We have killed 51 cows and one heifer from raising on the farm Nižná Šuňava”, Kohút said. Veterinarians disinfected and after a control they hand it over to the owner. He can ask for damage compensation.
Veterinarians do not agree with release of sale of pharmaceuticals for breeders
This change would worsen a control of pharmaceuticals use in raisings which would endanger health unobjectionability of foods. However, breeders argue that a similar system of sale of pharmaceuticals functions without problems in many EU countries. Breeders spend annually more than a milliard crows for drugs. The health committee of the Parliament let through a novel of pharmaceutical law in the second reading. “A possibility of penetration of drugs and their residues in a food chain will increase with all consequences which result from it. Absence of a veterinarian in distribution and application of drugs means to hand over a significant part of veterinary care in laics’ hand”, the president of Chamber of Veterinarians Karel Daniel said to journalists today.
