Madeta is going to close two plants

The biggest Czech dairy works, the company Madeta, is going to close operations in České Budějovice and Strakonice. In this way it reacts to a step of the dairy and economic cooperative Jih which denounced to the firm all milk supplies at the end of December. Madeta wants most employees of these plants transfer in other operations, so no more than 200 people should lose their jobs. The Czech Television reported it in its evening news service yesterday. “We have received a written cancellation of milk supply from the coop Jih”, a general director of Madeta, Milan Teplý confirmed.

Legendary sparkling wine Bohemia is without alcohol. Intentionally

To celebrate the onset of the New Year with a couple of glasses of sparkling “Bohemka”, to sit in a car and to go without fear home? A few years ago still nonsense. In this year the history breaks. Since a half of December shops are offering the first dealcoholized sparkling wine at all - of course Bohemia. “The first interest in this novelty is surprisingly high”, a trade director of Bohemia Sect Petr Černý does not hide pleasure. They produced for the beginning twenty thousand bottles of sparkling wine without alcohol in Starý Plzenec. For specialized shops it is not a absolute revolution, sparkling wines without alcohol have been offering for a certain time on a market by several foreign firms.

Bio-foods: For Czech assortment in specialized shops, for lower price in chains

3.1.2008, Prague: A wider assortment and more Czech foods we will find in specialized bio-shops; less money for bio-products we will spend in trade chains. It is proved by results of comparable investigation made by PRO-BIO Liga in Prague shops. From the results of the test which compared a supply of bio-foods in eight trade chains and two specialized shops of bio-foods and conventional foods were taken interesting conclusions.

Successful year of agriculture: thanks to demand from China and bio-fuels market

Czech agriculture has passed a successful year. Its yields achieved ten-percent increase in comparison with the year 2006 and probably there will be interest in its products also in the future. Experts even talk about renaissance of European agriculture. According to the International Council for Cereals the total harvest in the world was 1,66 billion tons. It is by 89 million more than last year when a harvest was also high. However, customers have no reason for rejoice. Prices of foods will increase further. It is owing to a high demand from China and a problematic policy of bio-fuels.
