A myth about olive oil is impugned

According to results of the newest German research, a consummation of olive oil can lead to a support of arteriosclerotic plaque and thereby to increase of risk of cardiovascular disease. Pharmaceuticals decreasing a level of cholesterol in blood belong to very successful segments of market with pharmaceutical preparations. However, to prevent rise of arteriosclerosis is possible also by the help of dietetic measures and health nutrition with a low content of fat. Already for many years nutrition specialists have still highlighted merits of Mediterranean diet. Especially olive oil was preferred as health-beneficial part of foods reception of which could significantly contribute to decrease of the cholesterol level and thereby to help to reduce occurrence of myocardial infarction.

Agrarian Chamber wants new amendment of act on land; it organizes petition

The Agrarian Chamber of the Czech Republic (AC) demands in cooperation with other two agricultural organizations a new amendment of act on land. According to them legislative changes should make easier and speeding up sale of state land to farmers who managed on it. AC together with the Bohemian-Moravian Agricultural Entrepreneurs Union after today's meeting in Velké Meziříčí in Žďár region called upon farmers in the Czech Republic to sign a petition which will be submitted to the Parliament and the Ministry of Agriculture in March. “To be able to put forward documents to politicians which will tell them that the problem is really important and that it is not possible to postpone it further”, the president of AC Jan Veleba said to journalists today.

Quality of water in reservoir supplying Prague decreases

Quality of water in a reservoir Švihov decreases in recent years. The reservoir supplies by water almost the whole Prague. According to a chairman of municipal infrastructure committee Mioslav Poche (ČSSD) the contamination is caused mainly by agriculture in the drainage area. Costs for adjustment of water increase. “In many cases values of pesticides recorded near affluxes into the reservoir exceeded the highest marginal indicators. The concentration of harmful substances in raw water increases costs for their removal in water preparing plant”, Poche said to ČTK today.

Farmers will distribute half million of leaflets for support of Czech foodstuffs

The Agrarian Chamber together with the Food Chamber and the Economic Chamber started a distribution of a half million leaflets today in which Czech consumers are called to buy domestic food. Their representatives announced it at a press conference. According to them a representation of foodstuffs imported from abroad is still bigger in Czech shops and moreover often they are of worse quality. The leaflets supporting Czech food will be distributed to people in the Czech Republic in next weeks for the first time at all. “We opened a huge action today an aim of which is to distribute a half million of leaflets in the whole Czech Republic.
