Consumption of bio-foods in CR increased last year by 70 percent

Consumption of bio-foods in the Czech Republic reached 1,29 billion crowns in 2007 which is increase by 70 percent compared to 2006. It results from a regular investigation of an agency Green marketing for a yearbook Czech market with bio-foods. The Czech spent almost 1,3 billion crowns for bio-foods last year, so by 530 million crowns more than year before. The bio-food market is permanently growing in CR; after 49 percent year before the last it brought other 70 percent in turnover. An average consumption per person was 126 crowns last year and bio-foods took more than half percent from the total consumption of foods and beverages; exactly 0,55 percents.

Britain wants to stop favouring of bio-fuels in EU

Plan of “green” Europe will come to other changes. After a wave of indignation against auctions with emission permits also bio-fuels will face radical changes. British premier Gordon Brown wants Brussels to reassess its plans for large use of fuels from renewable resources. Still more and more scientists alarm and warn that effects of long-term production of bio-fuels on environment are not looked into sufficiently. “If use of bio-fuels led in fact to increase of greenhouse gases, it would be obviously mad”, newspapers The Guardian quoted an adviser of the Ministry of Environment, Bob Watson.

Regional marks united in association

Eight regional marks created an association which will enable their cooperation and will ensure a common promotion at national level. A reason of the establishment was need to cover successfully developing activities in all regions. “I believe that foundation of the association is a step forward”, Tereza Vacková says. She was elected a chairwoman at a first negotiation of the Regional Marks Association, o.s. and added, that “regions took over responsibility and obtained a right to make decisions over the whole marking system Domestic products”. This system was introduced and coordinated by the Regional Environmental Centre CR. “The association will see that all marks will keep a high level, and it will provide us a space to develop together regional marking”, Radka Sachrová, a coordinator of mark in Beskydy appreciates.

Heineken buys Czech brewery three Drinks Union

Dutch Heineken buys a joint-stock company Drinks Union in Ústí, a server Euro online wrote. The firm owns breweries in Krásné and Velké Březno, in Louny, and in Kutná Hora. With a yearly production over a million hectoliters of beer it is the third biggest brewery group in the Czech Republic. Drink Union produces beers Zlatopramen, Březňák, Louny, dačický, Lorec, Jarošov and Pivrnec. The transaction has to be approved by the Antimonopoly Office. A price which Heineken will pay for Drinks Union will not be published.
