Losses of bees have been noted in all of Europe

Monitoring of mite population during a season and a subsequent well-timed sanitary intervention is possibly a recipe for our troubles with strong death. Bee-keepers should also leave old hives and to invest in modern hive systems enabling a regular and a simple monitoring of mite Varroa destructor attack. Monitoring of fall-out of the mite, reticulated bottoms with a bed, and an active approach of bee-keepers – they are the main ideas which sounded in frame of a spring bee-keeper workshop organized in Ivančice by Pracovní společnost nástavkových včelařů CZ (Operational Association of Extension Bee-keepers CZ) in cooperation with ZO ČSV Ivančice. The workshop’s name was Actual Situation in Czech and European Bee-keeping, therefore it could not be specialized other than to bee parasites and diseases.

EEA: Become secret agent and protect environment in amusing story

Children can now learn how to protect environment. They can catch eco-villains on new internet pages of “eco-agents” of the European Agency pro Environment which are available in 24 languages. The internet pages of eco-agents welcome nine to fourteen-year old children to become secret eco-agents in amusing stories. In every story five heroes from the Netherlands, Finland, Poland, Turkey and Greece will got a special task as for example he/she has to penetrate in “wind power stations” in the Netherlands which are only a front of facilities for natural gas mining. At first every beginner creates a personal profile and than he/she appears in amusing stories together with stable heroes. Every episode contains games in which children obtain points in the total score.

Why they support family farms

A credo of family farms is ecology and maintenance of landscape as well as prevention to depopulation of the countryside. A declaration “Family enterprise as a base of European Union” will stay dominant also in EU agriculture and in near future it will not change. In joining Slovakia in the EU it was supposed that large-scale production structure of agriculture will be a big advantage compared to small enterprises in EU-15. It did not happen according to allegation of large-scale production lobby especially because Slovak farmers got several times lower subsidies than small farmers in the EU.

ČSÚ: Prices of mineral water, vegetable butter and apples increased in 16th week

In inland shops prices of natural mineral water, vegetable butter, apples, bananas and chickens increased the most this week. On the contrary fresh hen eggs, granulated sugar and tomatoes were cheaper. It implies from results of a regular investigation of consumer’s prices of selected foods published by the Czech Statistic Office today.
