Czech fell in love with Irish whiskey
The Czechs fell in love with Irish whiskey which rolls by dynamics of its sales competitor’s whiskey from Scotland or the USA. Its popularity is so significant that whiskey Tullamore Dew, which is distributed by a company Plzeň-Božkov in the Czech Republic, became the most sold mark in the category whiskey in gastronomy. According to data of an agency Dataservis, which deals with an investigation of market in the gastronomy area, Tullamore Dew is the most sold whisky/whiskey in Czech restaurants, bars and clubs. A market share of Tullamore Dew in gastronomy is 14,5% (in the segment whisky/bourbon/whiskey) in the period spring 2008. Tullamore Dew is in saleability of followed by marks Johnie Walker Red Label, Jim Beam and Jameson.
Expansion of chain Billa in CR will continue
Exactly a year from a factual takeover of a shops network Delvita t he company BILLA operates 172 supermarkets in the Czech Republic with a total sale area 202 000 m2. The number includes also six completely new supermarkets BILLA built on “a green meadow” last year. In 12 months more than a half of shops destined for reconstruction or other adjustments have been successfully re-built. All 46 remaining affiliated branches Delvita is now in a certain stage of reconstruction. The company BILLA management supposes termination of a change of all remaining shops by the end of October. This year BILLA will open other five completely new supermarkets.
Ministers of France, Sweden and the CR will cooperate on climatic and power legislative
French Minister of Environment, energetics, sustainable development and territorial planning Jean-Louis Borloo invites his Czech and Swedish colleagues Martin Bursík and Andrease Carlgrena, together with representatives of the European Commission and the General secretariat of EU Council in Paris today. They met to discuss their future cooperation in area of environment during eighteen-month period of their presidency in the EU from the 1st June 2008 to the 31st December 2009.
State will give hundreds of millions crowns for flood-protection measures in Zlín region
The Ministry of Agriculture will significantly share in realization of flood-protection measures in Zlín region in frame of the program Flood-prevention in 2007 – 2012. A sum 621,3 mil. CZK is prepared for this period which means almost double increase of finances. In frame of work visit of the region it was mentioned by the Minister Petr Gandalovič. Above all Tlumačov and Uherské Hradiště/Staré Město belong among important localities where flood-protection buildings will be realized.
