Milk in shops starts to cheapen

Prices of milk on shelves of trade networks go down. As the first one the biggest chain Tesco resolved to cheapen. They sell a liter of milk for 13,90 crowns when a week ago it cost 15,90. “Also other market will react to this change in the next few days”, a source from the large trade chain who did not want to be named said to a daily E15. According to another source a network Globus will start to offer milk in action for 13 crowns. Discount of cow milk in shops has been expected; the same development was also at the beginning of milk crisis in neighbouring Germany. In the Czech Republic the buy-out prices of raw milk started to decrease from the end of March and it still reduces.

World wheat production can be record high this year

The International Grains Council (IGC) in a last forecast from the 30th of May increased an estimation of the world wheat production in the year 2008/09 by 5 mil. t to record 650 mil. t. At the same time IGC announced that world prices of wheat in connection with supposed growth of production started to decrease from their top level in March and till the end of May they reduced by 25 to 50 %.

Main priority of Czech presidency in environment is climate protection

At yesterday’s meeting with non-profit and non-governmental organizations the 1st deputy minister of environment Jan Dusík introduced priorities of coming Czech presidency for areas of environment. What the CR will pursue in the EU Council from January 2009? “The main priority will be protection of climate which stems from one of six crucial topics of the whole Czech presidency called Energetics and change of climate”, Dusík said and added that on last Friday in Paris ministers of environment from France, the Czech Republic and Sweden confirmed again that the protection of climate in the areas of environment is an unambiguous priority of all three presidencies.

Government will discuss proposal for removal of ecological damages by one commission

The government will discuss a proposal of the Ministry of Finances for removal of all old ecological damages by setting one big state commission. A value of unremoved ecological damages of the state which come into being before 1992 is approximately 115 billion crowns. An aim of the proposal is to obtain a price low as much as possible for the state. The intention is criticized by a non-governmental organization Transparency International (TIC) according to which adoption of the proposal would burden the state budget entirely uselessly by 30 billion crowns.
