Jan Veleba acquainted Jiří Čunek with the hottest problems of agriculture
During more than a half-hour meeting the president of Agrarian Chamber of CR Jan Veleba acquainted the vice-premier Jiří Čunek with the hottest questions in the Czech agriculture. Besides decrease in a budget for agricultural department by five million crowns the state should significantly reduce a support of drinking milk in schools. School milk together with vegetable and fruits is a program supported by the EU. “Till this time a contribution for School milk has been at a level of 80 million crowns. The state has given 60 million and the EU 20 million crowns.
“Forest agreement” can shave state by hundreds of millions
A giant state enterprise Lesy ČR has closed a contract for sale of wood which can be a dream of every entrepreneur: a price of goods from the state firm could be determined by the purchasing side. The state enterprise Lesy ČR are in danger of huge losses. The firm has signed an agreement which deprived it of a full control over a multi-billion business with wood. “It is very risky and considerations about a possible suspicion of committing a crime are absolutely outright”, says a lawyer Jiří Herczeg who professes also at the Faculty of Law at Charles University. The agreement which HN (Hospodářské Noviny) has available passes control over sale of wood on Hradecká lesní a dřevařská společnost.
Intensive care supports credulity of calves
British welfare experiments confirmed a significance of intensive communication with calves which supports their credulity also towards strangers. A covering of eyes with bandage before dehorning and also an intensive contact of cattlemen with calves amounts a significant saving of work time and reduces stress on both sides. That´s results of British research in which scientists included in total 27 calves-heifers selected in two groups. Calves from a control group were submitted to a classical work routine. It was stabled in individual boxes and watered twice a day with milk feeding substitute.
Beginning of August brought record beer consumption
Warm weather of recent days pleases not only summer lovers but also brewers. All breweries in Moravian-Silesian region go fully to cover requirements of thirsty customers. Beginning of August brought a record consumption of beer. It is proved by a demand for the most popular beer in Moravia, the mark Radegast. “Now daily more than million beers aim at consumers from the brewery in Nošovice. We supply more than five thousand customers 250 of which belong in a seasonal category”, a manager of marks of Pilsen Prazdroj Vladimír Jurina says.
