CULS introduced all five faculties at Země živitelka and gathered in success
The 35th year of international exhibition Země živitelka took place at a fairground in České Budějovice at the end of August. For the Czech University of Life Sciences it is for the first time when all its faculties could present themselves together at the same time. The Czech University of Life Science was so lucky that its representation exhibition place was placed on a strategically advantageous position, immediately at the entry, so every visitor can see it. Each of the CULS faculties had its own space with own posters with information and photographs. A dominating feature was a plasmic screen continually presenting shot about the CULS.
Management of ACH CR acquaints with problems TOP UP 2009
After a common negotiation of presidium and a supervisory board of the Agrarian Chamber in České Budějovice on the 22nd of August 2008 reactions are received containing objection to an opinion of the presidium on a direction of payments TOP UP in 2009 per area. Concretely per arable land where except 2007 they always were. With all esteem we have to announce that a problem of principal at this time is a budget for 2009 which is unacceptable and which, if it were adopted in this version, would have heavy economic impacts on every subject in height of Payments TOP UP without a difference whether the payment would be paid per agricultural land or arable land.
Harvest of hop ends, crop is better than in last years
Hop harvest in Žatec region finishes. SAAZ hops which is grown on almost 90 percents of hop-gardens is already harvested; now it is turn of late varieties. Thanks to favourable weather this year´s harvest is average, against the last years it is better. “Compared to the last two years this year there were a smaller number of tropic days and distribution of rainfalls and despite the fact that the weather significantly differed locally, during the year it was more uniform. Such a course of weather brought better yields than last two years”, Zdeněk Rosa, a secretary of the Hop-Growers Union, told.
Reputedly EU have to pay for dryness in last 30 years as much as 2,5 trillion crowns
Dry atmosphere deprived the European Union of huge amount of money in last tens decades. It is estimated that its total economic impacts in the EU in last 30 years reached the height 100 billion Euros (almost 2,5 trillion crowns). It results from a release adopted on Tuesday by the European Parliament Committee for Environment. “Quality water run out in Europe”, Miroslav Ouzký, its chief and at the same time Czech Euro-representative said to ČTK on voting in the committee. According to him the lack of water is not an acute problem in the Czech Republic, however, it is necessary to count on a possibility that the CR will have to dealt with it one time.
