Seven EU countries exceeded milk quota. CR did not.

Seven states of the European Union produced more milk than set quotas. They earned for it a fine of 399 million Euros (8,4 billion crowns). The European Union announced that the sinners are Austria, Cyprus, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Luxebourg and the Netherlands. The Czech Republic, which did not keep own quota once in the past, produced less milk this time that it could. The biggest fine, as many as 47 percents of the total sum, will be paid by Italy which exceeded the quota by 5,7 percents. Other thirty percents then Germany which produced by 1,3 percents less milk than it is allowed.

Lower prices of agricultural producers can cheapen foods

Prices of agricultural producers decreased month-on-month by 6,1 percents in September; year-on-year they were lower by 4,4 percents. According to analysts the decrease in prices can cheapen some foods. Nevertheless, the Agricultural Union sees the question skeptically. It does not deny lower prices, however, it sees no significant changes in the future. Prices of plant products against August fell by ten percents owing to a decrease in potatoes prices by 32,5 percents. Prices of cereals decreased by 7,5 percents; fruits by 7,8 and vegetable by 5,4 percents. The Czech Statistic Office informed on it today. “Septembers´ development of producers´ prices is slightly under an expectation of the market.

Wooden giant CE Wood buys Kellner´s fund (ČT 24)

One of the biggest Czech timber firms, the company CE Wood will be dominated the fund RP Capital co-owned by the richest Czech Petr Kellner controlling the investment group PPF. Companies have not published a price for 66 percents of this almost biggest forestry firm in the central Europe. According to the internet server iHned.cz it moves in rank of billions crowns. A director of the presidency of CE Wood Ivan Doubrava admits that his firm was severely touched by the present world crisis. Nevertheless, according to him despite the fact the timer giant has excellent growth potential which it manage to use it fully thanks to entry of a capital-strong partner.

Veterinarians: Bird flu hit at Czech borders

Finding of a dangerous virus of bird flu H5N1 near German town Görlitz, so only several kilometers from Czech borders, disquiets also our veterinarians. The veterinarians revealed bird flue in a local middle-sized poultry breeding. 800 geese, 550 ducks, 60 chickens and 24 turkey-hens for fattening were immediately killed. Czech veterinarians do not exclude a danger of the virus transmission in our country. “The virus had to get in the breeding by means of wild birds. And because bird migration slowly starts, we cannot exclude that some of them crossed the borders”, Václav Švihel from the Regional Veterinary Administration said to Deník.
