Government postponed law on conditions of transfer of forest lands

The government postponed a definitive negotiation of an amendment of act on conditions of transfer of agricultural and forest lands today. The premier Mirek Topolánek told it at a press conference after the government meeting. According to the novel a maximal area of forest land which the state will be allowed to transfer to municipalities free of charge should be increased from the present ten to 50 hectares.

CSO: Harvest of cereals grew by 17 percent year-on-year last year

Czech farmers harvested 8,37 million tons of cereals including corn for grain last year. It was by 17 percents more than in 2007. It results from definitive data published by the Czech Statistic Office today. An average hectare yield increased by 0,84 tons to 5,37 tons. The cereal harvest ranks last year´s harvest on the second place after a record year 2004. A final result is a bit lower than the last CSO estimation from November. According to it the cereal production should increase year-on-year by 18,1 percents.

Government satisfied cheese producers

A significant liberalization of conditions of licence for use of casein and caseinat in cheese production is the main sense of regulation approved by the government in connection to a new regulation of the European Commission at today´s meeting. Casein is the main protein in cow milk. Usually it represents about 80 percents of all milk proteins. Many milk products is based on coagulation of this protein. The present conditions for use of casein were very restrictive and brought in practice considerable problems in administration of licence. Applicants had to explain, for example, a technological necessity of casein in their production procedures.

Euro: PGRLF has to repeat tender for sale of ZZN Nový Jičín

The State Subsidiary and Guarantee Rural and Forestry Fund (PGRLF) which wants to sell 68-percentual share in the company Zemědělské zásobování a nákup Nový Jičín (ZZN) in a public competition will have to repeat the tender. A daily Euro published it in today´s issue. Three interested persons tried for a majority in the firm which trades with cereals and owns large storage capacities and at the same time it is the last one of this type in the state ownership.
