World-wide wine consumption decreased slightely
A world-wide wine consumption slightly decreased. First of all it is because of a fall in demand in traditional viticultural countries as France, Italy and Germany, apparently owing to the economic crisis. On the contrary the situation was rescued by a stable or higher sale of wines in the USA, Australia, Canada and Brazil. However, generally the wine production in the world slightly increased. It as announced by the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV) today. Wine consumption in 2008 decreased by 0,8 percents to 243 million hectoliters against 245 million hectoliters in 2007. “It is definite that the world economic crisis plaid its role in the decrease of global demand”, a general director of OIV Federico Castellucci said.
