Region Liberec created new subsidy program to support bee-keepers
Region Liberec created a new subsidy program to support bee-keepers. 400 000 crowns is at disposal in it for this year. It is not for the first time when the region supports bee-keeping; it divided by a single application 700 000 crowns for renewal of bee colonies decimated by varroasis last year. Otherwise, a support has been rather occasional so far. Regarding a decrease in bees and bee-keepers, it is essential to help to maintain this field because it is important not only for farmers and gardeners, a regional councilman for agriculture Jaroslav Podzimek said to ČTK today.
European lawyers discussed enforceability of right for protection of environment in Prague
On Tuesday the 7th of April a special seminar of EU lawyers for environment (NEEL). Experts from EU member states negotiated about practical tools and measures which can lead to a better enforceability of right for protection of environment. One of the seminar topics is a question of approach to legal (court) protection according to European legislative. The European Commission already in 2003 introduced a proposal of regulation to these problems, however, negotiation was shortly after stopped in EU bodies.
Wood is sold worse now
Owing to wind calamities, which in last two years in form of windbreaks forced timber harvesting firms even in forest in Děčín region to compulsory cut trees, wood-processing firms are not lack of wood mass. Supply exceeds demand which recently even the economic crisis started to reduce. “Overpressure of wood is felt not only inland but also abroad and the interest in new deliveries has significantly decreased. Therefore we do not force firms which on base of results of selective proceedings became our partners for harvesting assurance to fulfill tasks in some directive set terms. So, they can cut continuously. However, they should cope with the agreed year harvest volume”.
Over 8 years four hundred thousand examined
Since beginning of 2001 the Czech Republic examines BSE, by this year´s last March 1 408 785 pieces of cattle have been examined and of it 29 were positive cases. It could seem that consistent examination of all slaughtered animals above 30 months will be useless. Nevertheless, that´s not the case. Also other EU member states act the same and sporadic occurrences confirm that the attention devoted to BSE is on place. As well it is henceforth right to insist on ban of use of meat-bone flour for feeding of farm animals, especially ruminants.
