Farmers will go on roads in regions with agricultural machines on 29th of April

Farmers want to draw attention to difficulties of dairy cattle breeders; on the 29th of April they will go out with farm machines on roads mainly in the region Vysočina and farther in regions Pilsen, Pardubice and the South-Moravian region. A part of protest will be peaceful manifestation in Chlumec nad Cidlinou. A chairman of the Agrarian Chamber of the CR Jan Veleba said it to ČTK today and added that the protests will not be an targeted road blockade. The Czech Republic will not be the only state where the protest will take place; farmers should demonstrate in more countries. Meanwhile, according to Veleba, it is not known where everywhere farmers will join the action organized by the German Milk Producers Union.

Bee-keepers appreciated fast and effective help of minister Gandalovič

At yesterday´s meeting, representatives of the Czech Bee-keepers Union appreciated a fast help of the Ministry of Agriculture in difficulties caused by over-multiplied mite varroa destructor. This mite caused a death of 120 000 bee colonies in the winter period 2007 - 2008.Thanks to mainly fast prepared subsidies, during 2008, 90 of 120 000 died bee colonies were successfully renewed and so winter losses were reduced. “The decrease in number of bee colonies would cause in agriculture substantial problems it was essential to fast and efficiently react; we provided 25 million crowns and thanks to these subsidies a large part of bee colonies were successfully renewed”, the Minister of Agriculture Petr Gandalovič told.

Gandalovič´s deal for 600 million without public competition

The Ministry of Agriculture under the direction of the minister in demission Petr Gandalovič attends fast to two commissions from an area of information and communication technologies in a total value of almost 600 million crowns for 24 months. Offers should be submitted this Friday and the contracts should be signed before start of a new minister who should be Jakub Šebesta, nominated by social democracy in the government. The Ministry of Agriculture fast started up allotment of the commissions after the vote of censure to the government and instead of a transparent public competition it chose a proceeding without publication.
