EU changes rules for slaughters. Animals must not suffer in “hog-killings”
According to a declaration of Euro-representative Březina, a change of rules could cause problems in home hog-killings. The European Union agreed on a change of rules for home animal slaughters, so for example traditional Czech home hog-killings. In the future it will be possible to slaughter pigs at home, however, at the same time there will be set certain rules so that the animals would not be tortured. The European Commission put forward proposals for a change of norms concerning killing of domestic animals last year in autumn. The present rules are often outdated, moreover, they very differ among the particular EU states.
Rains delayed start of cereals harvest in South Moravia to end of June
Owing to rainy weather a harvest of cereals in South Moravia will start at the turn of June and July. According to original plans combines should have drive in fields already this week. Owing to a big drought, farmers expect roughly by a third less crop. The rain in last days will not change anything on it; in areas afflicted with a lack of water spikes are small or dried, Antonín Osička, a vice-chairman of the Agrarian Chamber in Břeclav said to ČTK today.
Five banks participate in program Green for savings
The biggest subsidy program in the Czech Republic, Green to savings, will substantially increase a number of places where it will be possible to submit applications. A spokesman of the Ministry of Environment of the CR (MŽP) Jakub Kašpar informed on it on Monday. According to his data, the first four banks won so called “mini-tenders” last week which entitle them to administrate the program. “Other mini-tenders will be realized this week. Together the program should be participated by following five banks: Česká spořitelna (Czech Savings- Ban), Československá obchodní banka (Czechoslovakian Trade Bank), Komerční banka (Commercial Bank), LBBW Bank CZ a UniCredit Bank Czech Republic,“ Kašpar stated.
Food Chamber and milk
The Food Chamber has founded a new milk section. It was instituted in connection with problems on the milk market and it should negotiate with state institutions and trade chains and to promote Czech milk products inland and abroad and thereby to endeavour for demand revival. Establishing members are besides the Czech-Moravian Dairy Industry Union for example the biggest Czech dairy-works Madeta, Olma, but also in the CR operating branches of supra-national concerns Danone and Bongrain. ČTK was acquainted with it by a spokeswoman of the Chamber, Dana Večeřová.
