No to pigs from Lithuania

The State Veterinary Administration of the CR forbade an import of breeding pigs and any pigs from Lithuania at all. The reason is prosaic; an infection situation in our republic is different than in the country of origin. Our republic just because of a good infection situation can require additional guarantees of countries from which the trade should be realized. It means that in case of trading with pigs, only pigs from countries where Aujezsky pig disease does not occurs or where a sanitation program against this infection has been approved, can in the CR. And, it is just not the case of Lithuania

Dairy-men in EU will perhaps wait to see other support, however, CR is careful

Milk producers in the European Union will perhaps wait to see other support from the Union. Union ministers of agriculture discuss it in Brussels today. Other help for farmers is supported also by the Czechs, however, they fear that the EU could approve a proposal of the European Commission of increase of state aid for milk producers from 7000 Euro (about 182.000 crowns) to 15.000 Euro (about 390.000 crowns). It means that states would be able to provide farmers a support just up to the height 15 000 Euro without asking for its approval by the European Commission.

Use of plant bio-mass in CR energetics

According to the European Commission´s indication objective, a plant bio-mass should share in the energy consumption in the CR by eight percents in 2010. Thanks to a longstanding research it is possible to quantify volumes of energetic plant bio-mass originating from agricultural production. The plant bio-mass potential from agricultural production for use in energetics lies in these resources: a) a burning of plant bio-mass; b) a use of plant bio-mass for liquid energy resources; and c) a use of plant bio-mass for gas energy resources.

Crisis got down agricultural prices, many farmers have fear of bankruptcy

Small firms as well as large enterprises which owe suppliers have problems and many of them hardly pay off loans. Some Czech agricultural enterprises and farmers are in danger of bankruptcy. Owing to an economic crisis and low buy-out milk and wheat prices, they are in loss; in some regions, moreover, a rain, which afflicted a crop, worries them. Small firms as well as large enterprises have problems, they owe suppliers, many of them hardly pay off loans. For example, Czech fruit-growers estimate a drop-out in incomes this year against last years to tens of millions crowns; also wine sellers report lower takings. It results from a ČTK inquiry.
