State will call upon its citizen to buy local foods

The Food Chamber will start a new project supporting Czech foods next year. For example, in department stores it will be possible to shop in a “regional spot” various regional specialties which will be marked uniformly “a regional food”. The program consisting in subsidies for promotion of selected products will be cooperated also by the Agrarian Chamber, regions and the Ministry of Agriculture. The Ministry with region will also release money for the activity; annually it will be tens of millions crowns.

Demonstration of farmers in front of dairy works in Městečko Trnávka and in Olešnice

The regional Agrarian Chamber of Pardubice, the Mlékařské odbytové družstvo MORAVA, and the Crisis farmers staff of the region Pardubice prepares protests in front of dairy works MILTRA B - Městečko Trnávka and Olešnice on the December 10, 2009 from 9 to 10 o´clock. The demonstration will take place owing to a still persisting low buy-out milk price when haller increase in not in the basic price, and owing to persisting practices of markets when milk with 1,5 % of fatness bought out for 6 CZK is sold to consumers for 14,90 CZK in TESCO.

Veterinarians detected illegal slaughter in Lovosice

Veterinarians confiscated about a ton of pig meat, lard and other meat products in premises of a former gardening in Lovosice. A suspicion, that local Vietnamese slaughter functioned without permission was confirmed. Veterinarians accompanied by policemen arose a shocking view. A part of meat idling on a dirty floor and a part in a van, which probably distributes products in Vietnamese shops. Moreover, there were also alive animals determined for slaughter in the premises.

White butterflies did not make to become a pupa before frosts. There will be less of them next year

Amount of white butterflies in south Moravia will be probably less next year. It is good news for cabbage, sprout and turnip-cabbage growers. Owning to warm autumn and mild winter not two generations of white butterflies came up in south Moravia as it is usual but three generations. However, a part of caterpillars of the three generations died in a recent morning frosts. Only caterpillars from the third generation, which managed to become a pupa before the frosts, survived, Hana Šefrová from Mendel University in Brno told.
