HN: Gross gain of Lesy ČR will decrease by 65 pct to quarter of billion CZK

The state enterprise Lesy České republiky (LČR) will have this year´s profit about 250 million crowns before taxation which is a fall by 65 percent against last year. It is dealt with one the weakest results in the history. Last year´s gross gain amounted to 707 million crowns, a record gain in 2006 reached two billion crowns. According to a general director of LČR Svatopluk Sýkora, the enterprise will fulfill a plan with quarter-billion gain. It was published in today´s Hospodářské noviny.

South-Bohemian Madeta will increase milk buy-out prices, it negotiates with suppliers

The biggest Czech dairy works Madeta will increase milk buy-out prices already this year. Milan Teplý, a chairman of directorship, said it to ČTK today. Above all the Mlékařské a hospodářské družstvo Jih pushes on raise in prices after unsuccessful demonstrations of farmers. Buy-out prices of Madeta are below average now, according to a vice-chairman of the cooperative Zdeněk Houška. The cooperative delivers about 520 000 liters daily in Madeta at present which is approximately a half of purchase volume. The rest is delivered in Germany and also in a dairy works in Klatovy. The negotiations should be finished before Christmas, Houška said to ČTK today.

Return to flax growing

Flax growing in Europe plays a substantially smaller role on base of missing subventions. But even without the subvention the flax growing can be profitable - thanks to lower costs. Breeders in Great Britain test successfully news varieties of winter flax for seed and flax oil production now. Farmers grow flax sown in autumn despite fluctuating yields as an alternative to winter rape. In comparison with flax sown in spring a harvest takes place under more favourable conditions in August.

Owing to urbanization 11 ha of agricultural land diminish daily in CR

Urbanization endangers many animal and plant species. Owing to urbanization, on average 11 hectares of agricultural land diminish in our republic daily. Moreover, the trend accelerates in recent years. Urbanization together with intensive agriculture and growing transportation contributes also to disintegration of landscape complexes. It is presented in the first general report about the state of landscape and nature in the CR.
