State Lesy ČR backed out of auction sale of CE Wood saw-mill

The state enterprise will not try for a saw-mill Javořice in an auction sale. A call price is a half billion crowns. The auction sale will take place on Monday, January 18. The state enterprise Lesy ČR will not participate in Monday auction sale of the saw-mill Javořice, in a property of forestry company CE Wood. A general director of Lesy Svatopluk Sýkora confirmed it to Hospodářské Noviny. The auction sale of CE Wood will take place on the 18th of January in a congress center in Brno. The state enterprise “backed out” in this way of a controversial action. It drew attention of the press last year that Lesy had already came to an agreement with CE Wood secretly on that it will purchase its saw-mill from a private firm, reputedly for as many as 750 million crowns.

Check of packaged waters did not revealed substantial inadequacies

The State Agricultural and Food Inspection carries out their checks on base of a risk analysis, it means that it focuses on risky places on the food market. A tool used for this practice is topical checks planned according to pieces of knowledge from last control actions and actual problems on the market. Except this, SZPI reacts also to stimuli from supervisory bodies, consumers, media as well as consumer organizations.

Crisis of Czech fruit growing continue

Owing to an economic crisis, planting of new orchards in the Czech Republic fell by 30 percents on 350 hectares last year. So it was the lowest in the last 15 years. It was caused by a fall of fruit prices because of the crisis which forced fruit-growers to reduce investments. If the decrease in planting continued even in next years, there would be a threat of loss of competitiveness of Czech fruit-growing on the opened European market, a chairman of Fruit-growers Union of the CR Martin Ludvík stated.

ICO: Coffee consumption despite the crisis increased slightly last year

Despite the crisis, coffee consumption increased slightly last year. According to the International Coffee Organization (ICO) it increased to almost 132 million sixty-kilogram bales from 130 million in 2008. “ Despite the world economic crisis, which started in 2008, the consumption still grows and probably it will stay a dominant factor in keeping of a high price”, an executive director of ICO, Nestor Osorio, told. Osorio estimates that 123,7 million bales of coffee will be harvested in this growing year. It is by 0,3 million more than an earlier forecast amounted to, however, against the last year it is still lower figure.
