Carlsbad mineral waters got fine five million CZK from ÚOHS

Carlsbad mineral waters (KMV) got a fine five million crowns from the antimonopoly office for closure of illegal agreements on export ban with distributors. A chief of the Office for Protection of Competition (ÚOHS) Petr Rafaj said it to ČTK today. In this case the firm cooperated with ÚOHS, so, the originally considered fine was finally reduced by ÚOHS by a half. The agreements with distributors were closed by KMV and also by its filial firm HBSW with distributors in the Czech Republic and abroad, mainly in Slovakia, from beginning of February 1999 to December 2008.

Slaughters are empty, number of pigs decreases

The Czech Republic is almost reliant on pig meat import. Owing to liquidated raisings still fewer and fewer pigs end on Czech slaughters. Year-on-yearly their number decreased almost by a fifth. It results from data of the Czech Statistic Office. Numbers of slaughters in the Czech Republic decrease every year, however, what statistics over the last twelve months showed was minimally a surprise. While between 2007 and 2008 numbers of pig slaughters decreased by about 260 thousands, between 2008 and 2009 it was a fall by more than double. According to experts it is a picture of declining agriculture.

Veselý: If senate proposal passes, breweries will cheapen beer

In case that a senate proposal to give back a beer consumption tax to the level before its New Year increase would pass through the Parliament, breweries would in all probability decrease the beer price to the level before the tax increase. An executive director of the Czech Malt and Beer Association, Jan Veselý, state it today. The beer consumption tax increased by about 50 hellers per half a liter from January; most of breweries consequently raised price of the half-liter by as much as one crown. “If it happens (approval of the proposal), breweries will again cheapen beer back, Veselý stated. According to him, the price of beverage would decreased by four to five percents.

Number of fines still slightly decreases

In comparison with foregoing years, our animals are by a bit healthier again and are treated with better. The progress towards the improvement is recorded also within checks of processing of raw materials and foods of animal origin. The decreasing number of opened administrative proceedings and the decreasing number of imposed fines show stable improvement. In 2009, 1 277 administrative proceedings and fines in total were opened and imposed on motion of veterinary bodies for 13 702 200 crowns. In comparison with foregoing years it is roughly by hundreds of thousands to half a million less (the height of imposed fines moved over 14 million crowns).
