Experts: State bank and consolidation of chambers would help to agriculture

Bad conditions negotiated upon accession of a country into the EU, lower direct subsidies from European funds, and a low prestige of the department in the government and among the public are blame for the present state of Czech agriculture. It sounded at lectures at a conference of successful farmers at the fair Techagro in Brno today. According to experts, besides evening-up of subsidies, for example a foundation of a state bank, that would secure all financial flows among farmers and the states, or an unification of tens of agrarian unions and chambers in an uniform organization would improve the situation in the country.

Number of organic farmers has achieved 3 000

From the actual statistic data it results that a number of organic farmers increases rapidly. Already 2 689 have been managing to the 31st of December, 2009 on an acreage of almost 400 000 ha which represents a share 9.38 % of the total acreage of agricultural land. An acreage of arable land grows steadily, an acreage of vineyards and orchards in organic farming increase; the first hop gardens have got in the organic agriculture regime. A number of eco-farms increased over the year 2009 by 50 %; a number of bio-food producers has already exceeded 500 premises. The main reason of the increase is a stable state support in this area.

Breweries improves foam with disallowed substance

A fifth of samples tested by MF DNES contains a substance which thickens a foam. It does not belong in Czech beer; it disguises deficiencies in beer production. While for British or Americans the foam is absolutely unnecessary, for the Czechs it has the fundamental influence on whether they will taste the beverage. Now, some brewers cheated them a bit - they use a substance called Tetrahop in beer production, a chemical foam stabilizer. According to the Ministry of Agriculture it has nothing to do in traditional Czech beer.

Legal regulations of poultry breeding

The area of poultry breeding is regularized manly by the law No. 166/1999 Col., on veterinary care and on a change of some connected laws (veterinary law), subsequently amended, and by an executive public notice to this law. The main monitored areas of the legal regulations were duties of a breeder in poultry breeding, poultry infections, and conditions of poultry translocation. The second important law regulating protection of poultry in breeding is the law No. 246/1992 Col., on protection of animals against maltreatment, subsequently amended. This law concentrates especially on security of poultry welfare and prevention of its maltreatment.
