Flooded fields: farmers speak about disaster

A foul odour and swarms of mosquitos. Such a picture can be seen by those who go around field in Kylešovice at Opava. A reason of the present situation is recent long-lasting rains and the fact that once there was a blind river branch in the place. At all events, the management of Zemědělská společnost Kylešovice (agricultural company) is at wits´ end with the flooded field. “We have to wait when the water falls down; we can not do anything else. If it soaks into soon, we will manage to sow corn for green, however, if the water is persistent, we will let it lies waste”, a chairman of the company Duš an Šrajer says.

New marking of foods in EU should help against obesity

The European Parliament approved new unified rules for marking of foods for EU member states. According to the Euro-representative Jan Březina, the new regulation replacing the present seven instructions and one regulation brings changes for both the Czech consumers and the food producers. Besides others it should help Europeans in fight against obesity. “The marking of foods will be changed revolutionarily in order to secure better informedness of consumers”, the Euro-representative Jan Březina (KDU-ČSL) states. He mentions for example determination of duty to bring detailed data about nutritive value per 100 g, 100 ml or a portion in.

Exclusively: Firm Animalco is for sale

A purely Czech company Animalco, the biggest Czech dealer of meat and alive animals, is for sale. A director and the most important auctioneer of the firm Animalco Radko Jung confirmed it to the server Euro.cz. “We are looking for a space for further growth. We would like to advance from Czech league to European league”, Jung explains the sale of export-import company which arose twenty years ago. Its other co-owners are Michal Dušek and Tomáš Kutzendörfer . Animalco with its business scope would fit in the agri-food empire of Andrej Babiš.

Entrance ban in Masaryk´s forest will be enlarged, people ignore it

A ban of entrance in Masaryk´s forest in South Moravia should be enlarged to other three municipalities, in total to 29 cadastral territories. It should newly come in force in Útěchov, Babice nad Svitavou, and Bílovice nad Svitavou. Representatives of Brno and Šlapanice will decide about it. The ban was imposed by Blansko on the proposal from foresters on Wednesday, in relation to 26 towns and municipalities. However, many people do not respect it, Pavel Mauer from Školní lesní podnik in Křtiny, which manages the forest, said to ČTK today. “I can understand that local residents go to the forest edge to look at windbreaks cause by Saturday windstorm…”
