Information on milk quotas fulfillment – for deliveries and direct sale over the month August in quota year 2010/2011

Mléko Fulfillment of milk quotas over the period from 1.8.2010 to 31.8.2010: deliveries 220 920.1 tonnes of milk; direct sale 579.3 tonnes of milk. Fulfillment of milk quotas over the period 1.4.2010 – 31.8.2010 in total: for deliveries 1 114 345 tonnes, i.e. 39.68 % of intrastate milk quota for deliveries (i.e. 2 808 528 tonnes); for direct sale 2 973,7 tonnes, i.e. 24.60 % of intrastate milk quota for direct sale (i.e. 12 089 tonnes).

Ministry of Agriculture advanced in preparation of CR position to future of EU agricultural policy

Main priorities of the Common Agricultural Policy should be a simplification of administrative and a reduction of bureaucracy, fair conditions for farmers from old and new EU member states, and land protection. It resulted from statements of experts inquired by the Ministry of Agriculture. From these principles also a key material stems which defines the position of the Czech Republic for negotiation on the EU Common Agricultural Policy after 2013 prepared by the Ministry of Agriculture.

Edam from Netherlands has EU mark, it does not mean end of Czech one

The European Union approved new protected geographical indications of the EU for cheeses Edam and Gouda produced in the Netherlands. Besides producers from other countries also the Czechs came out against Netherlandish application in the past. They were afraid that such a decision could endanger production of these cheeses in the Czech Republic. However, according to diplomats, nothing of the sort threats. “Today´s decision does not mean in any case the end of Czech Edam and Gouda. Cheeses with the mark Edam and Gouda can be still produced on the territory of European Union”, a diplomatic resource acquainted with a result of negotiation of a special committee for geographical indications said to ČTK.

CSO: Vineyard area in CR has increased almost three times since 1920

The area of domestic vineyards has almost tripled over the last 90 years. While in 1920, vineyards occupied less than 6000 hectares of land, last year their acreage reached 16 364 hectares. Also wine consumption has increased. It results from data published by the Czech Statistic Office (CSO) today. In 1948, then Czechoslovakian inhabitant drank less than five liters of wine yearly at average; in 2008 it was more than 16 liters. Despite the fact the Czech still fall behind the all-European average in wine drinking.
