New adjustment of Common Agricultural Policy should be more fair and simpler

Before publication of official proposals of the European Commission to the future form of the Common Agricultural Policy of EU on the 17th of November, coalition shaped for efficient negotiation start to outline. Ministers of agriculture of Visegrad group together with opposites from Romania and Bulgaria discussed a common procedure on Monday and Tuesday in Bratislava. The coordinated procedure is intended to achieve a real reform of this policy and an enthronement of fair conditions for farmers in all the EU. The Common Agricultural Policy of the European Union should be simple, fair, market oriented and sustainable. It results from a declaration signed by representatives of Visegrad Four (V4), Bulgaria and Romania today.

Research: Organic farms have soil of better quality

Technologies of farming operations on organic farms lead, according to a study of British scientists, from a long-tem viewpoint, to a healthier soil. The soil on organic farms contains much more variable range of mycorrhiza fungi than the soil on conventional farms. It results from a study elaborated by The Centre for Ecology and Hydrology in Great Britain and published in a special journal Environmental Microbiology. Scientists examined a presence of microscopic fungi in soil which help plants to grow. The study took place on nine farms in England. Fungi of arbuscular mycorrhiza (AM) create a symbiotic association with roots of most plants and enable plants to absorb better nutritive substances and to deal with a disease.

President signed amendments of acts on goods checks and on seed

A check of export of goods enabling military usage will be enlarged in compliance with European regulations in the Czech Republic to its transit across the EU territory. It will be applied also on provision of intermediary services connected with thess goods in the third countries. A government novel, which counts on it, was signed by the president Václav Klaus today. The president signed also an amendment of act on seed circulation. It was communicated by the president´s spokesman Radim Ochvat. According to the Minister of Industry and Trade, Martin Kocourek (ODS), the amendment of act on check of export of goods determined for industrial and other civil usage, for military purposes, or for a support of propagation of mass destruction weapons specifies among others reasons for not to grant appropriate licences. Newly it will be taken account more of relevance of proven administrative torts.

Part of new EU countries wants a fundamental change of policy for farmers

The common Agricultural Policy of the European Union should be simple, fair, market-oriented and sustainable. It results from a declaration signed by representatives of countries of Visegrad Four (V4), Bulgaria and Romania today. New Union members want among others to enforce so that the original EU states could not in the future to subsidize farmers from own national resources without limitation over the framework of the common policy. “It necessary and time so that the Common Agricultural Policy would really change, not only to perform a cosmetic treatment”, Slovak Minister of Agriculture Szolt Simon interpreted to journalists the common standpoint of the six countries
