Farmers wants simplification of direct sale regulations

Small agricultural product processors suffer from tough regulations which make difficult sale of products directly from their farms. The Private Agriculture Association (PAA) stated it. Farmers dislike that the same tough norms apply for small producers as for large agricultural and food-industry businesses. The Ministry of Agriculture (MA) stated in half of April that it will have simplified the legislative for small producers minimally to a level of their colleagues in Austria and Geramny.

Support for bio-foods of Czech origin

Other press conference of the Agrarian Chamber of the CR was focused on support for bio-foods of Czech origin. This time it was dealt with visualization of bio-wines, bio-mustard, and also it was conferred on significance of technical hemp production and seed from ecological areas. “A breeding team Vinselekt tries to gain resistant varieties which can be plant with a minimal or possibly no chemical protection. The breeding itself is followed also by a way of growing supporting ecological awareness.

European commissioner condemned GMO

Production of genetically modified plants does not meet conditions for production of quality foods, diverse diet and natural biodiversity. The European commissioner for agriculture Dacian Ciolos told it. The commissioner according to his words is strongly disposed towards traditional forms of agriculture and he considers genetically modified organisms as risky - they could harm consumers´ confidence in food produced in the EU. In an interview for Romanian daily Adeverul the commissioner added that European agriculture should not be based on production of cheap foods for any price and the consumers´ demand for quality foods should not be satisfied by GMO products.

EU increased milk production and its export

Also in March, milk deliveries in dairy works in the European Union further increased. According to first estimations of ZMB (Zentrale Milchmarkt Berichterstattung, the Central Market News Service with a seat in Berlin) in comparison with the foregoing month at average by 2.8 % more milk has been delivered. The above average milk deliveries were above all in France, Ireland and in Great Britain. The amount of delivered milk in the first quarter of this year was year-on-yearly higher by 2.8 %, however, only by 1.5 % higher in comparison with the same period in 2009.
