This year´s winter was very favourable for bee-keeping

This year´s winter is favourable for bees meanwhile; only minimum bees have died through the winter and bee colonies are in a very good state. The weather in May and June will decide on what this year´s honey production will be. The maximal death ten percents of bee is considered by bee-keepers as natural. The bee vitality is evinced by the fact that they started to swarm several weeks earlier in some places than usually. Small complications were caused to bee-keepers only by return of frosts last week when some flowering plants frozen.

Agrarian trade defit increased to 8 bil. in first quarter

Agrarian foreign trade ended with a deficit in the amount of eight billion crowns in the first quarter; it has increased year-on-yearly by four percents. In comparison with the first quarter of 2010, both the import and the export have gone up. It results from data provided to ČTK by the Agricultural Union of the CR. The numbers stem from customs statistics of the Czech Statistic Office (CSO). In the first three months, the import into the Czech Republic of agricultural products, foods, beverages and tobacco products amounted to 37 billion crowns; the export of the same goods has reached a value 29 billion.

CAP has to hold farmers in heard of local economy

The future development of many agricultural regions in the EU could be endangered unless a suggested reform of the Common Agricultural Policy remedies serious imbalance of the current system and guarantees a regular support to small and medium farmers and producers who prevail in the EU agriculture. In this way local and regional representatives warned after admission of three attitudes of the Committee at a plenary session of the Committee of Regions in Brussels on Thursday.

Businessmen raised prices of bread and pastry; they were forced by largest bakers

Sellers try to keep prices of rolls as low as possible, but despite the fact pastry have risen in price by more than a fifth; bread by 15 percents. That all is reputedly because of illegal agreements of two biggest bakeries Penam and United Backeries which had reputedly teamed up and threaten businessmen with stopping of deliveries if they would not rise the prices. Moreover, Penam and United Backeries are said to push also on smaller producers so that they would also raise prices to businessmen.
