Mould affecting wheat has spread in 11 countries so far

For the present, a devastating mould affecting wheat has spread in 11 countries of Africa and the Middle East. Scientists cited by the agency Reuters, who endeavour to breed a variety resistant to the mould, are afraid that it could spread also in south Asia and other parts of the planet. As many as 90 percents of wheat in the world are not resistant to the mould, marked by scientists with an abbreviation Ug99. The infection detected for the first time in Uganda in 1999 affects stems of plants and leaves oval rusty-red marks of damage on them. According to scientists, the mould decreases wheat yields by 50 to 70 percents and can damage even whole fields.

Last days´ rains raise hopes to mushroomers

Many kind of mushrooms grow in forests, however, in a small amount at the present. According to mycologists, last rainy days could turn it. Also poisonous mushrooms start to appear more and more often. “For the present, it is not still quite good time for picking mushrooms; only several pieces appear always”, Jaroslav Janda from the Czech Mycological Society says. Therefore, only a minimum number of mushroomers aimed at the mycological consulting room till this time.

Healthy vegetable from growers from vegetable integrate production system

Don´t be afraid of buying vegetable from Czech producers. A monitoring of occurrence of pesticide residua in vegetable was, among others, a part of solution of a research project of the Ministry of Agriculture No. QH81292 solved in 2008 - 2011 in the Crop Research Institute together with the Institute of Chemical Technology. Modern methods of detection of pesticide residua which were used enable in particular samples of vegetables to quantitatively determine as many as 100 active substances of pesticides at the same time. These active substances include almost the total spectrum of pesticides used in the EU and in the CR in the vegetable protection against diseases, pests and weeds.
