Instead of Czech poppy we eat technical one from import

Quality Czech poppy is driven out from our market by poppy from France and Spain which should not come in food industry at all. Despite the fact it is used. Producers mix it with Czech poppy. Poppy is usually used in a form of paste and fillings. Therefore it is milled and in a high poppy price processors admix it with breadcrumb, sugar and other substitutes. A customer does not recognize it at all in the result. Thereby the consumption of Czech poppy is less. Therefore, when poppy outlines as a profitable crop-plant for Czech farmers few years ago (it was counted on as many as hundred thousand hectares in the republic), its acreage decreases fast now.

Winner of giant tender of Lesy ČR is company Less & Forest

The definite winner of a giant tender for forest works and sale of wood from 2012 of the state enterprise Lesy České republiky (LČR) is, according to unofficial results, a company Less & Forest of an entrepreneur Jan Mičánek. The firm submitted the best price offer in about 75 percents of 117 territorial units in the competition. A trustful source from forestry branch said it to ČTK today and Mičánek confirmed it asked by ČTK. LČR did not comment the data. The results arise from Wednesday opening of envelopes with price offers.

United Bakeries fell in loss 148 mil. CZK last year

The biggest inland bakery group United Bakeries deepened a loss significantly to 148 million CZK last year. In 2009, it managed with a mild loss fewer than 700 000 CZK. The worsening of the results was caused by a sharp competitor´s fight on Czech bakery market which cut down prices of bread and pastry. The company stated it in the last-year annual report published in Collection of Papers. United Backery owners agreed on the Agrofert Holding group owner, Andrej Babiš, on sale of the firm at the end of September.

Farmers lament: Potatoes are bought out for two crowns

Growers of consumption potatoes experience cheerless times. Potato buy-out price decreases below threatening two crowns for one kilogram. Farmers wait with sale, nevertheless, particularly the smaller one do not have enough stores. “We try to store potatoes where it is possible. But, this year is wet, so, there is a danger that temporarily stored potatoes will be of worse quality. The can rot under the provisional conditions”, a chairman of district agricultural union and a director of Výrobně obchodní družstvo Kámen (a production-trade cooperative), Josef Houček tells.
