Honey production will be higher this year against last one; price slightly increased

The honey production in the Czech Republic will be higher this year than in the last one when it reached 7455 tonnes. A vice-chairman of the Czech Bee-keepers Union Miroslav Peroutka said it to ČTK today. However, according to him, obviously it will not deal with a record production. Honey prices have increased slightly since the last year. At average they move mildly above the border 130 crowns for kilogram. Except an increase in number of bee colonies, also the more favourable weather helped to the expected increase of honey yield against the last year. More amount of honey was produced for this reason above all by bees in Moravia, vic versa, the production in Bohemia was less this year against the year ago. According to Peroutka, light nectar honey should predominate over dark forest honey in this year´s production. Real numbers about this year´s production should be disposable in the Union at the turn of year.

Czech and Moravian vine-growers have already harvested all grapes determined for this year´s St. Martin wines. They have more time for wine production than inlast years. The harvest has started thanks to favourable weather by several weeks sooner. Vine-growers want to produce a record number of two million bottles of St. Martin wines this year. The Viticultural Fund stated it in a press release today. All samples of St. Martin wines have to pass an expert evaluation at first, whether their sensoric qualities match a determined characteristics and whether they reach the required quality. The first evaluation starts next Tuesday in premises of the National viticultural centre in Valtice in the region Břeclav. The second round will close the evaluation on the 1st of November.

Comments of Agricultural Union of CR to draft law which cancels law No. 395/2009 Col., on significant market power and changes law No. 143/2001 Col., on protection of competition

Let´s set aside a matter of principle which is doubts about rightness of cancellation of the Law No. 395/2009 Col., on a significant market power. Even if it is dealt with a law unquestionably imperfect, it indisputably had its effect in the practice. Its cancellation and an effort for solution of these problems by a form of amendment on protection of competition represent a certain step back because the proposal solves problems necessarily in a significantly smaller extent. Nevertheless, it is not dealt with a political decision which we have to accept in the given situation.
