End of cheap raw materials

Three billion of new consumers who will have the same requirement as we will have increased significantly demands for deliveries of basic foods and commodities by 2030. It will boost also their price. Savings will relieve to the world in use of raw material and energies only partially. The era of cheap raw materials which helped to economic growth in the last century is probably irretrievable away. In the first decade of the new century, the present trend of price reduction turned. Also price swings increased. And in the future, it is not possible to count on that it could not be other way, a study of advisory company McKinsey warns. Production of many raw materials got in a situation when it will not be able in a short time to react on growing supply. Nor higher prices will secure their higher deliveries. Therefore, price swings will be bigger than in the past.

Last year´s honey production in CR was the best since 1993

Last year´s honey production was the highest in a history of the independent Czech Republic. According to preliminary results, it reached roughly 11 000 tonnes and year-on-yearly it increased approximately by a third. As an answer to ČTK question it was stated by the vice-chairman of Czech Bee-keepers Union (ČSV) Miloslav Peroutka. According to him, the number of bee colonies increased last year; also the number of bee-keepers raised. The Union has data about the last year´s honey production from bee-keepers from most regions at present. The last four districts have not sent the data yet. The incomplete production to this date amounts almost 10 500 tonnes. “The four regions will make certainly the 500 tonnes”, Peroutka pointed out. So, it is clear already now that the last year´s honey production will exceed the record year 2006 when it reached 9 080 tonnes. The good yield last year on the contrary to the year before the last was both in Bohemia and Moravia where frosts significantly did harm to bee-keepers.

Europe suffers from wild boars; huntsmen hunt them on a large scale

European forests are flooded with over-proliferated wild boars which damage crop to farmers on a large scale; therefore huntsmen have both hands full of work. Only in Germany during the last hunting season they shot 585 000 wild boars, French huntsmen hunted a half million of animals, and hunters in Poland 140 000 pieces of wild boars. It results from statistics published by German hunting association. “High numbers show that the number of wild boars quickly increases”, a spokesman of German huntsmen Torsten Reinwald told. According to him compared to the foregoing season it was hunted by a third more wild boars and in comparison with the state 35 years ago the number of hunted boars has even increased five times. “If huntsmen do not hunt, the number of wild boars would double or triple every year. It would cause immense damages in agriculture”, Reinwald added.

Prognosis of world milk price development

According to the actual estimation of the United State Department of Agriculture (USDA) the trend of decreasing prices on the world milk product market should stop. As experts from Washington stated in their analysis of the global milk market, there are first signals that a continual price decrease will stop and that a price level will stabilize this year. Thanks to decrease of world reserves, above all in the state stocks, according to opinions of American market experts, prices could again escalate within short-time supply limitations. On the side of supply the growth should be weakened. Production of cow milk should increase only by 1.8 % in producer-important countries in contrast to the last year´s estimated increase 2.4 %.
