Government will negotiate budget draft of Land Fund

Expenditures of the Land Fund should increase year-on-yearly by 70 million crowns to 1.7 billion CZK this year. It results from a draft budget of the Fund which will be discussed by the government today. Originally, the Fund´s management required an increase of its budget by 100 million CZK, however, after a criticism from the side of the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) it reduced its requirement by 30 million. A spokesman of the Ministry Jan Žáček said it to ČTK. The Funds should stop to exist and should merge with land offices. At a government meeting before Christmas, the MoA submitted a report on transformation of the Land Fund and land offices in which it criticized a slow pace of preparation of the Fund for the transformation and waste of public means. Also the Ministry disliked that the Fund announces tenders for significantly longer term than it remains to the end of its transformation. The increase in budget of the institution by 100 million CZK in the last year of its existence was marked by the Ministry as incomprehensible.

Orange concentrate rapidly strengthens

The biggest increase over the last five years was recorded on the exchange ICE Futures by a price of orange concentrate in a reaction to frosts in Florida which damaged local crop, and also owing to investigation of American ministry of agriculture. It finds out use of sprays against moulds in Brazil from where 25 percents of American production is imported in the States. March contract of the concentrate strengthened by a maximal daily limit 20 cents and closed Wednesday trading at 207.75 cents for a pound. The price in the most actively traded contract got the highest since March 2007; the increase was the most significant since October 2006.

In Šumava it is possible to watch deer from log cabin

Sufficient amount of snow enabled administrators of Šumava national park to open other season of a popular watching deer, roe deer and other game in indoor from specially built heated log cabins. People can watch wild animals in Šumava in their natural environment already for the fifth year and the interest still increases, Jana Zvettlerová from the park administration told. The public can enrol for the winter watching in one of two localities. A log cabin on a place called Beranky near Srní in Klatovy region is in operation now; obviously from a half of January also a second watching locality will be opened - Jelení Vrchy - U Herciána near Nová Pec in Prachatice region. For example over 1 300 people came in two winter and one summer observation posts last year, of it more than one thousand in winter in Beranky.

TZ: Lesy ČR increased anti-flood protection of municipality Šumvald in Uničov region

Lesy ČR significantly increased anti-flood protection of the municipality Šumvald in Uničov area, in the Šumperk region, Olomouc district. Recently, a reconstruction of original anti-flood measures has been finished in the area only a short way over the municipality with cost in amount 2.7 million crowns. “Lesy ČR reconstruct completely 6-meter high and 25-meter long flood-protection dam which will fulfil its purpose at time of increased flow.  The dam will catch by water saturated material which can otherwise damage banks of the course, and will reduce risk of damage of pieces of real estate in the municipality”, Pavel Pernica, a manager of the Water courses and Forests of the CR of the area of Morava basin pointed out.
