CIC expects record damages to winter crops

This year´s winter and spring frosts caused Czech farmers record damages to winter crops. It results from the first estimations of the Czech Insurance Company (CIC). Farmers have reputedly announced damage to winter crops on more than 20 000 hectares till this time which is the most in the last several years. The insurance company expects that the damages will reach almost 50 million crowns.

Association of Private Farming of CR will not support planned demonstrations for green diesel

The Association of Private Farming of the CR (ASZ ČR) will not join in any case road blockades with agricultural machines owing to planned cancellation of refund of a diesel consumption tax (so called green diesel) which the Agrarian Chamber advised today.

The Minister of Finances of the CR Miroslav Kalousek submitted several proposals to the Czech government for negotiation which should further strengthen economy measures of the government in the next years, Inter alia, it is dealt with increase of VAT, a temporary reduction of pension growth together with increase of tax burden of higher income layers of CR inhabitants and so on.

Third year of competition Region Food starts

Commissions in particular regions of the Czech Republic started to collect foods to which they bestow a quality certificate Regional Food. Producers´ interest in this appraisal increases, same as an interest of consumers in goods with a logo Regional Food. The State Agricultural and Intervention Fund is entrusted newly with administration of the project from 2012

Amount of honey this year will be probably low; weather was unfavourable

While last year season was enormously successful for bee-keepers in Zlín region and there was enough of honey, this year it will not be so great. Chairmen of local regional associations of the Czech Bee-keepers Union don´t want to be too concrete for the present and to estimate early the production.
