Czech can produce more milk, nevertheless, it will not move price

Czech farmers will be able to produce by 50 million kilograms of milk more next year than today. The European Commission decided to increase present milk quota by two percents from April 2008. According to the first deputy minister of agriculture Ivo Hlaváč an informal council of ministers of agriculture from EU member states agreed on it. Hlaváš said that tan he Czech side together with states of Visegrad four advocated increase of quotas by four percent.

Ecology? Un-known term for most of supermarkets

Ecologically friendly behaviour is for Czech supermarkets rather an unknown term for the present. An inquiry of the association Arnika showed among eleven the most significant trade chains that most of them does not replace risky PVC films in foods with safer covers. An absolute rarity is also a system of rubbish sorting for customers or purchase bags from ecological materials. The only exceptions with which supermarkets can trot out are only reverse taking of run-down batteries and sale of beverages in reversible bottles. But: To offer also reversible bottles is ordered to large shops by the coverage law.

Veterinarians did not revealed any other center of bird flu in Poland

Veterinarian in Poland after a check of poultry farms did not revealed any other center of bird flu. The killing virus H5N1 was found out on Saturday in two turkey farms almost hundred kilometers north-west from Warsaw. Strict safety rules are gold in the locality. The case will have an impact on many Polish poultry breeders because in connection with occurrence of bird flu Belorussia and Ukraine forbade import of poultry meat from Poland. In Poland it is the first announced case of occurrence of deadly virus at domestic animals.

BIO = HEALTH?!

Many researches show that consumers buy bio-foods longing for better health. So, what is the situation in bio-foods and health in fact? No doubt, a simple equal sign between words bio and health can not be put; and an opinion that bio-foods will secure or even will insure our health is very misquided. A diet is only one of factors beside heredity, a total life style and state of spirit which influence human health. However, it can not be considered as saving and the only one! To eat only bio because only health benefit is expected is narrow-minded, with pardon.
