World wine production is one of the weakest in 20 years this year

The world wine production will decrease by five per cents to 259 million hectolitres this year and the last year will be one of three weakest in the last two decades. It was estimated by the International organization for grape vine and wine at European association of agricultural organizations COPA/COGECA.

Potato crop in CR is very good; however, it will not cover domestic consumption

According to the last estimation, Czech growers will harvest 689 000 tonnes of potatoes this year; in comparison with the last record-low harvest it is by a third bigger amount. According to today´s data of the Czech Potato Growers Union, the present potato harvest thanks to a good yield is comparable with ten-year average although potato field acreage has been reduced.

St. Martin wines of this year will be fresh and fruity

St. Martin wines of this year will be fresh and fruity; they will fill as many as 2.3 million bottles. It results from today´s first round of evaluation in Valtice in Břeclav region where wine producers sent 277 wine. A prestigious mark was awarded to 248 samples from 71 wine farms. Representatives of the Viticultural Fund said it to ČTK.

MPs approved “green diesel” for foresters

A return of part of consumption tax in diesel (so called “green diesel) should be newly given besides farmers in animal production also to foresters and pond managers. By the present, only farmers in plant production have been entitled to it. An amendment of law on consumption taxes passed on the 21st October by MPs counts on it. The amendment will be sent to the Senate now.
