World wine exports reached record value last year, but its consumption fell

The world wine exports were worth a record 37.6 billion euros (883.5 billion CZK) last year. Export prices increased by 15 percent year-on-year on average. However, global wine consumption fell by one percent to 232 million hectolitres due to weaker demand and logistical problems.

Czech households are facing rising prices and are looking for ways to save. One of them is a change in purchasing preferences in favour of cheaper and private brands. A share of food and drugstore goods sold in discounts exceeded 60 percent for the first time in 2022.
