Forests CR mustnt cancel agreements with timber harvestors

Economic Competition Authority stopped an administrative procedure with the company Forest CR concerning controversial contracting between the forest enterprise and timber firms. However, the antimonopoly authority directed the company to continue in the contractual relations with trade partners with which it closed contracts with validity period longer than till 2004. The enterprise Forests CR promised to provide a transparent contractual policy. According to the antimonopoly authority the Forest CR has to public its measures to ensuring of transparent and non-discriminating bankrupts.

Beer and flavoured soda-water for 2 CZK should disappear

Beer and two-liter flavoured soda-water for less then two crowns can completely disappear from counters of large stores soon. The Parliament voted a proposal of the ČSSD representative, Ladislav Skopal, unobtrusively on Friday, which bans a sale under price for which it is possible to produce given goods. The aim is so that trade chains dont push suppliers into prices which are liquidating, Skopal explains. He added his proposal changing the law on prices to another, unrelated law.

Timber harvesting in the CR goes to record numbers

Annual growth of harvested wood increased by three percents to record 15,6 millions of squared meters which results from data of the Czech Statistical Office. However, the logging still stays under a level of wood growth so that reserves of wood increases in forests. According to an executive director of the Czech Association of entrepreneurs in forest economy, Jiří Kořínek, it could show the fact that old forest economic plans gradually ended and new ones started the last year which enabled to increase to logging. Owners probably took the advantage of it. Neither this amount of harvest harm the substance of Czech forests, Kořínek said.

Violent fire raged in Tatra Mountains

The Low Tatry Mountains have not recovered from last-year destructive windstorm yet and they got other shock a violent fire. Firemen managed to overcome it after two days.

- More than one hundred of firemen and volunteers fought from Wednesday to yesterdays afternoon with an extensive forest fire in surroundings of Slovak municipalities Heľpa and Závadka nad Hronom. The fire destroyed 45 hectares of forest in the Low Tatra Mountains, from it three quarters of windbreak from the last years destroying vortex. They coped with it yesterday.
