MZe: Support of bio-spirit is desirable also due to growing oil prices

The Ministry of Agriculture CR (MZe) supports any processing of agricultural products for non-food use. It is a basic reaction of the resort to a fact that one of items of the Wednesday agenda of the Government CR is also a proposal of the Ministry of Environment (MŽP) to support bio-spirit production in the CR. According to Jiří Felčárek from the MZe press division, the support of renewable resources is an unambiguous priority of the resort whose significance grows further thanks to dramatically increasing prices of fossil fuels, concretely oil.

Price of feeding cereals falls further on PBB; price of food cereals grows

Trading day on the Corn-exchange in Brno (PBB) characterized a further decrease of price of feeding cereals in its estimated surplus after this year's harvest. On the contrary a price of food wheat grows by four percents to 2 895 CZK for a ton with a reimbursement of transport by the seller. A price of rye increased almost by six percents to 2 256 CZK for a ton, the exchange informed the ČTK today. Feeding wheat gradually weakened by 4,1 percents to 2 133 CZK per a ton and feeding barley stayed roughly at the same level of 2 279 crowns for one ton. “Also a production balance of perennial rape is practically well-known, its price still increases gradually” said a general secretary of the exchange Karel Zezula.

Report of BSE

From the beginning of 2001 till the end of this year's August 813 257 pieces of cattle was examined for BSE in total, whereas 20 animals were positive - diseased. In the first year of examination two cases of this malign disease were found out, as well as in the second year. In the fourth year already four cases were found out and the last year even seven cases. This year 5 diseased animals were uncovered.

Bio-food fight for their place in Czech kitchens

Bio-food finds places also on shelves of big supermarkets but for the present Czechs don't buy them daily. Last year every Czech in average spent 27 crowns for bio-food; in former fifteen EU member states it was about 800 crowns. Roughly a tenth percent of the total consumption falls on ecological food in the Czech Republic. Hereat also trade chains as Interspar, Kaufland and Billa brought the European mode of biological food on their shelves.
