Zgarba wants to increase fines for dishonest sellers till 50 mil. CZK

The minister of agriculture Petr Zgarba wants to increase fines for dishonest sellers who sell e.g. outdated foods from current three millions till 50 millions crowns. It should be enabled by an amendment of act on foods which the Ministry of Agriculture will work out. According to him, a threat of a higher fine should make sellers keep rules in sale of foods. The State Agricultural and Food Inspection (SZPI) found out in shops of some trade chains a sale of outdated meat and outdated food products.

Bird flu spreads already in Turkey and Romania

The bird flu starts to kill poultry in Europe. About 2000 turkeys died in west Turkey and Romania announced three other cases of the disease. After Romania announced on Friday the first occurrence of bird flu on its area, at the weekend it reported that the disease appeared in other villages of the Danube delta. Eight villages are in quarantine, full-area vaccination of people continues and about 1500 pieces of poultry were killed off.

Since September change of rules in phytosanitary check of packages

The State Phytosanitary Administration (SRS) call attention of importers and exporters of goods of all kinds to a change in an organization of application of import phytosanitary check of wooden packages and stacking strips which consignments of all kinds imported in the CR from the third countries contain (excluding Switzerland). Bořivoj Zbuzek from SRS informed about it.

Decrease of cattle in the CR has many negative consequences

After 1989 in the Czech Republic herds of cattle decreases; according to data of the Czech Statistic Office its states fell by 60 percents to 1,4 million pieces in last 15 years. According to a president of the Agrarian Chamber Jan Veleba the cattle represents a spine of agriculture and a reduction of breeding caused mainly by low redemption prices of meat and milk, has many negative consequences.
